We are happy you came to see us! Scroll down and we will share
some of our story with you.

In 1996 Hubert and Christine Pollitt came to North Carolina from Connecticut to find a quiet place for their retirement years. They found a piece of property that was on the Bay River in the little town of Merritt. The first few years they spent all their spare time building a very long dock out over the water.

With time they made some new friends from the neighborhood.

They grew to love this new home so much that they wanted to share it with everyone.  So they cleared some of their land and built a campground.                   This is how the Bay River Campground all began.

For those who want to rough it in a tent and hike a little for their drinking water and bath facilities we offer this secluded tent site by the water.  It has it's own small dock for your boat, kayak or canoe.  Camp and enjoy your private view of the river.

Sometimes folks just want to get in their car and spend a night outside in the woods.  We have just the place for you to enjoy a quiet place away from the noise and rush of your regular life.

Check in at our office and grab a campsite.

Take a spin on a bike or take a walk down Weaver Camp Road.  Once you arrive the road turns to gravel and it is a quiet place to relax.

If you want adventure take a short ferry ride over the Neuse and visit Fort Macon.

Visit Fort Macon State Park for a day and take in some of the sights.

You can search for shark teeth in our driveways and piles of reject from the local phosphate plant and create a display similar to this one shown above.

There is a Fossil Museum in the neighboring town of Aurora that can be very interesting.
